The saasfee*satellit is an exhibition and project space for contemporary art and music, developed as part of the curatorial program of the saasfeepavillon under the direction of the artist collective saasfee*.

Situated directly beside the saasfee*pavillon within Frankfurt’s Bürgergarten in the historic Wallanlagen, the compact pavilion was conceived and constructed by the collective in 2021. Supported by the Dr. Marschner Stiftung and realized in collaboration with Frankfurt’s Grünflächenamt, the satellit opened to the public in spring 2022. Since its opening, the space has hosted a regular program of exhibitions, music projects, performances, and public events.

Conceived as an extension of the saasfee*pavillon, the satellit provides a focused setting for experimental and emerging artistic positions. In 2023, saasfee* initiated the exhibition series satellit solos, dedicated to solo presentations by young artists. Selected through an open call featuring more than sixty international submissions spanning painting, photography, video, and sound installation, the invited artists developed individual exhibitions specifically conceived for the intimate scale of the space.

Alongside its exhibition program, the satellit has established itself as a site for contemporary music and interdisciplinary exchange. During the summer months, the adjacent terraces host the soundpark*sessions — an open-air series of concerts and DJ sets highlighting emerging musicians and electronic music practitioners, particularly from the Rhine-Main region. In the colder season, the program transitions into the interior space through the tiny bar sessions, presenting intimate live acts and DJ formats centered around electronic and experimental music.

The satellit is also closely connected to the long-term project saasfee*soundpark, which activates the surrounding public garden through site-specific sound compositions. Commissioned artists and musicians develop works that unfold over extended periods within the landscape, creating subtle interactions between sound, architecture, and public space.

Over the past years, the saasfee*satellit has evolved into a distinctive cultural meeting point within Frankfurt’s independent art scene — a hybrid space where exhibition-making, music, and social exchange intersect in an informal yet carefully curated environment.
