Laurin Stecher

biography

Laurin Stecher is an interdisciplinary designer and artist whose practice operates at the intersection of object design, fashion and installation. His work investigates how familiar everyday objects can be transformed through material intervention, challenging conventional notions of function, value and perception.

Originally trained in fashion design, Laurin Stecher approaches objects through processes of reconstruction and transformation. His projects often repurpose existing forms and materials, shifting them beyond their intended function while retaining traces of their cultural and social histories.

Born in Frankfurt am Main in 1997, Stecher studied Fashion Design at the Universität der Künste Berlin (UdK). During his studies, he was recognised by SLEEK Magazine as one of the "10 UdK Fashion Designers You Need to Know." He has worked with internationally renowned designers including Duran Lantink (Amsterdam) and Balenciaga (Paris), while also collaborating with Karmuel Young (Hong Kong) and On (Zurich). Alongside his artistic practice, he has developed projects in scenography, music video production and visual communication. Today, Stecher lives and works between Berlin, Frankfurt am Main and Paris.
